My wonderful husband sent this to me today to remind me to get up and go to God...
"And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:19 When the prodigal son decided to go back home, he said, "I will arise and go to my father, and will say to him, 'Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you, and I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Make me like one of your hired servants'" (Luke 15:18–19). You see, he saw two things before he went home. First, he saw that everything he needed was already in his father's house. Second, he saw that he was perishing: "But when he came to himself, he said, 'How many of my father's hired servants have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!' " (Luke 15:17). If you want to get right with God, then you need to see the same things. First, you need to realize that everything you need in life is found in a relationship with God. There is nothing you need in this life that God cannot provide for you. Second, you need to realize you are perishing. Your only hope is Jesus Christ, who offers you His forgiveness. You have to go to God. Now this prodigal son could have repeated his resolution every single day: "One of these days, I am going to say, 'Father, I am no longer worthy to be called your son.' I am going to go back, one of these days." And in the same way, we can say, "One of these days, I am going to go back to church and get right with God. One of these days. . . ." But a few years pass, and then there are no more days. It is not enough to realize you are a sinner. It is not enough even to realize that Jesus died for your sin and offers forgiveness. You need to act on it. You need to get up and go to God.
