What a week...

This has just been one of those crazy weeks where you wonder what day it is because they all seem like one. I am glad to start on a positive note! My dad, the kids, and I headed to Fallbrook where my grandparents live for a visit last Thursday. My grandpa had surgery a while back and due to sickness between one of the kids or I, we hadn't been able to yet visit him in order to keep him healthy! Finally a week where we weren't sick! The kids were eager to see their great grandpa and enjoyed the time they had with him. They love to show him their toys, what they latest trick is, or just tell them about the things they love. It puts such joy on my Poppee's face to see them!Drew reading to Poppee.

Grandma Betty and the kids picking strawberries.

My cousins and I loved when we were kids to go pick strawberries in my grandma's garden. To now see my kids doing the same thing is so special for me! There is something so wonderful about the strawberries that come straight from her garden...they are always the best!Drew helping my dad do some sweeping at Poppee's house.

Last Friday we went to our friends house in San Clemente to play and it was beautiful weather. The kids all played outside and enjoyed fun in a little kids pool. I really truly think water is one of my kids favorite things...both to drink and to play! The joy on their faces when playing in the pool was pure delight! We had a nice quite night at home and ordered some food for pick up and some dessert too. I stayed up to watch some of my favorite shows that I tivoed and started to feel not too great. I woke up in the middle of the night with a stomach bug that had me sleeping by the toilet for the rest of the night. Dan went to work and for the first time ever I had to call him to tell him to come home. I was so weak and couldn't move from the bathroom to be the mom my kids needed.

Dan came home and took the kids to our friends house in LA to swim and go to dinner at one of their favorite restaurants, Islands while I stayed home and slept the day away. I am so proud to announce that Kendra first of all put on floaties (couldn't get her to do that last year) and second was swimming/floating in the water with Dan by her side from one side of the pool to the other. This is a HUGE accomplishment for her and I can't wait to see her learn at her own pace how to swim! We have always said we will go to Hawaii as a family when the kids are both potty trained and both comfortable around water...we are getting closer! Drew also put on floaties and was in the pool!
Sunday I woke up feeling much better and was actually able to go to church...praise the Lord! I never thought on Saturday that I would even be able to get up let alone go to church. It was definitely a 24 hour bug. We also bought the kids a mini pool from Wal-Mart. They have known since last summer what pool they wanted as they loved the pool our friends the Mackeys had (it had a little slide that they loved going down).

Drew's turn!

Monday Kendra went to a tumble class that she completely loved with her new friend she met in our neighborhood. There was a teacher who took them through this awesome adventure. Each week has a theme and they use that to each the tumbling...very creative. It was great to see her thrive and enjoy it! It is the perfect place for my kids and I. There are huge windows that you can see the kids and the kids can see you. They can also at any point come to you if they wish. Kendra just kept looking at me with a big thumbs up every time she did something! So cute! Drew was very excited to cheer her on!

Monday night as Dan was laying with Kendra reading to her she said she had a rumbly in her tumbly (Pooh Bear). Dan knew exactly what she was saying and this started the stomach bug for Kendra. I had her in bed with me the whole night and was up with her every hour as the poor girl was fighting the little bug. About half way through the night I hear Dan yell for me (he was in Kendra's bed trying to get some sleep so he could be half alert at work). Drew then too caught the bug. I had both kids in bed with me and we made a comfortable spread down stairs the next morning as we watched lots of movies! It stuck with the kids all week and I had it off and on. I am happy to say that today we are finally all over it. Today was the first morning that all 3 of us have woken up all week feeling some what normal!

The kids and I will head this weekend to my cousin's graduation party from Cal Baptist University. We are extremely proud of Cydney and can't wait to celebrate with her and see some of our family (can't wait to see ya'll!)!

Isn't it amazing what kids remember from year to year? I hope they enjoy the pool. Even if we get a house with a pool, Josiah still wants his old pool (which we didn't keep). I guess we may be headed to Walmart too.

What a great place you call home. All sorts of fun things to do in the area! I used to pick raspberries with my Granny--wonderful memories. How special that your kids get to partake in a tradition you grew up with. We're not quite in swimsuits yet here in Colorado. Had 3" of snow yesterday!

I've been praying for you all this week. I am glad you made it through (you rock, mom) and now get to celebrate by heading outdoors.
Oh, love the pool...we'll come by next week :)
