Long Time No Post

I can't believe it has been over a month. Man time flies when you are having fun!

This has been such a wonderful year! When I say year I always think in school terms because well, that has always been my life since I was little. So from September until now I am referring to. What a year!

Both kids have grown up so much! Dan and I just keep looking at both of them and are completely shocked that we have an almost 3 and 5 year old. We both say to one another at various times, where did our babies go? We don't have any babies in the house anymore and for us, it is a little weird. We are so thankful for the amazing gift we have been given to raise our children.

We have been going through a wonderful series at church these past 5 weeks on parenting. It has really refocused the both of us on the end goal. It is our job as parents to "tee them up" (like as on the golf course) and to let God take care of the rest. And that is just what we are working on, teeing them up!
Kendra has really grown into a personality of her own. She still has the sweetest spirit of any little girl I have met, with such a caring heart. But she has also found that, oh what shall I call it, spunk that I knew was in her. I don't know anyone like her :-) On any given day you will find Kendra playing Barbie's, Princesses, dress up, or Pet Shop. But of all the things she likes to do art, going to church, and singing and dancing are her favorites! She is very particular in how things need to be done. Her newest adventure is learning how to swim. Up until this point she has not wanted to put her face under the water and I am not one to force my kids to do something that scares them. But this is the summer that she is ready and doing an awesome job at it! I keep meaning to borrow some one's digital video camera so I can get it and save it for her to see when she is older.
Drew has gone from little boy to well all boy almost instantly. We both still try to cuddle with him, but he usually only wants to if he is tired. Otherwise, he is on the go and constantly moving. He is a talker and loves to know how and why things are the way they are. He loves his daddy and always wants to know where he is. You will find Drew these days on his scooter, in the sand box, playing with his cars, swording whoever will play swords with him, or bugging his sister. But of all the things he likes to do his favorites are riding his bike, reading bible stories, and working in the garage with daddy. He can get upset easily and is learning to understand that he can't always do what the big boys do. We are going to let him try to take off his training wheels this summer. Recently he has learned to go off ramps and will hopefully be getting one for his birthday. Another thing I definitely need to get on video at some point so he can see where he started.
Both kids love doing things as a family. They have both recently learned the concept of having people over and really like it when all the neighborhood kids are over in our garage and playing at our house. We still love going to Disneyland any chance we can get. They both still enjoy watching the Disney channel and Disney movies. One of their favorite things to do as a family, besides camping, is playing games.
Dan and I have come to realize we are totally full on parents. I know that sounds funny, yes we have been for almost 5 years, but it just recently hit us that we are about to enter into a period of life that is once again going to go by so fast and we are doing all we can to slow down, take it all in, and enjoy every moment that God has given us!
Philippians 2:3 "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves."
Philippians 4:6 "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God."
